SUFFOLK ASSOCIATION OF CRICKET UMPIRES AND SCORERS
The ECB Disciplinary Rule Guidelines have been in place since 2023. All Level 1 offenders receive an immediate one match ban. Level 2 offenders can receive a 2 to 4 match ban. No appeals are allowed on Levels 1 & 2.
All the matches are listed in the MATCH FIXTURES section along with all umpires that have been appointed. ANY CHANGES WILL BE COLOUR CODED.
A link will be provided at the top of the two Counties website and all fixtures and umpires appointments will appear on the PLAY CRICKET WEBSITE ( Also linked to the Two Counties website )

NEW MCC LAWS FOR 2027
A SHORT PITCHED BALL THAT PASSES OVER THE BATSMANS HEAD HAS TO CALLED A "WIDE" NOW AND NOT AT "NO BALL" AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS. (So no warning as before).
RUN OUTS :
FIELDER MUST HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE BALL BEFORE ATTEMPTING A RUN OUT. A bowler must for example, have the ball in his hand after the batsman has hit the ball back towards him , before he attempts a run out. A deflection off his hand or body onto the stumps will not be a form of dismissal in the future.
STUMPING.
A WICKET KEEPER MUST HAVE THE BALL IN HIS HANDS TO EFFECT A STUMPING.
If a ball, for example hits the wicket-keeper's pads of another part of his body and deflects onto the stumps with the batsman out of his ground , the batsman can not be given out .
"DEAD BALL"
It has always been the case , that once the ball has been returned to the wicket keeper or the bowler, the ball becomes dead. Now it becomes dead if the ball is "finally settled ", in the hands of a fielder. Umpires have to decide if the ball is dead. Sometimes in the last over or two, batsmen will attempt an extra run, even if the ball is in a fielder's hands, so this is rather a grey area.

UMPIRES EXPENSES
The Umpires expenses for Two Counties League matches in 2027, will be £60. To be paid ( in cash ) prior to the start of matches.
Umpires expenses for" cricket week" matches are £65. No umpires will be appointed to T20 matches and clubs who want umpires can use the "umpires contacts" list on this website.
Team sheets also have be be submitted( for league games ) before matches are allowed to start.
Umpires for Suffolk County Junior Matches are arranged by TOM SMITH (07724079768) with the expenses being £65.
Note : Teamsheets now must display the actual ages of young players on the day of the match and not an , under 16,under 17 etc. which related to the previous August. Just the certain age on the day.
THE LIMITS ARE :- (In a spell )
Ages 12, 13, 14, 15. Maximum of 5 overs
Ages 16 & 17 Maximum of 6 overs
Ages 18 & 19 Maximum of 7 overs
RADIO CONTROL
For the 2026 season the Suffolk Umpires will be supplied with radio control units to make contact with the scorers, that much easier.
( These units will be used at the umpires discretion ).
TWO COUNTIES LEAGUE HANDBOOKS
There will not be a 2026 version of the handbook.
League rules are the same as last year.
Club contacts and details of team captains will, hopefully be updated on the Two Counties website.
